Amy Barbiaz is one of the newest authors with UNBOUND press.
Amy’s book After the Last Fall is the first fiction release for the UNBOUND press. Amy shares what being an UNBOUND writer means to her, and how being able to put into the world fierce female leads not bound by patriarchy tropes, and bringing to light that there is more than one way to be a woman is important to her writing. A theme that comes through strongly in After The Last Fall is that there is no one way to be female, which for Amy is important. As a social worker in her full time job, Amy is involved in empowering victims of domestic violence, and working with the LGBTQ+ community. For Amy, a lot of people who feel homeless in the world can find their place with the right people, and her story is a powerful way to illustrate this. Amy’s inspiration came from the last 3 minutes of a 7 minute long song, on the way to a client visit. Her story of the how the first scene arrived from musical inspiration is a perfect example of UNBOUND writing, and how we can create transformational books and powerful messages in the most amazing, magical ways.
