Maridi Jooste signs publishing deal with The Unbound Press

We are delighted to announce that Maridi Jooste has signed a deal with The Unbound Press to publish her first book, Merkaba.

Maridi has worked as self-empowerment coach with private clients (including retreat and festival spaces) as well as in the NGO sector (working with survivors of GBV, human trafficking victims and prisoners). Earlier in life she worked in various jobs as a creative, including writing and directing films, TV shows and theatre productions, having completed a film directing diploma at NYFA. Maridi has completed a Masters in Management Coaching from USB in addition to obtaining postgraduate degrees in Psychology and Playwriting following a Bachelor of Performing Arts at US.

Maridi has also trained in various esoteric and expressive arts modalities. She is an accredited Family Constellations Facilitator, specialising in Inner Parts work, and is a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher.

Of the inspiration and purpose behind Merkaba, Maridi shares:

‘This visionary fantasy weaves Goddess myths, fairytales and true historical events into the portrayal of a woman's exploration of the four primary feminine archetypes within. The archetypes explored include The Princess (the woman choosing to stay unscarred), The Seductress (the woman experiencing life through her senses), The Witch (the Dark Goddess, facilitator of destruction) and The Priestess (the Goddess embodiment on earth capable of providing wisdom through inner guidance). Goddess Myth references include the myth of Freya, the Norse Goddess of love, beauty and fertility and the myth of Persephone, daughter of Demeter (Goddess of the Harvest) and the Greek Goddess of Spring, nature, the underworld, seasons and immortality. References to fairytales include Alice in Wonderland, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood and the burning times, Apartheid and dystopian events are woven in as historical references.

Merkaba is for all awakening women who identify with the archetypes mentioned and the men interested in supporting them. Through this book, I hope to inspire readers to heal old stories, accept the various parts within the self and the other and collectively birth a new world.’

The Unbound Press is thrilled to play a part in the birth of Maridi’s wise and groundbreaking book. We know that its readers will be inspired and supported on their individual healing journeys through the stories and archetypes to be found within its pages.
