Dr Jennifer Booker signs publishing deal with The Unbound Press for ‘The New Normal: Coming out as transgender in midlife’
Jennifer has been a rocket scientist, massage therapist, computer science professor, and burlesque performer. She holds three engineering degrees, most recently a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and has studied performing arts and social sciences for the fun of it. She’s currently pursuing a nursing career to focus more on helping people heal.
‘The New Normal’ is about Jennifer’s experience of coming out as transgender shortly before her 50th birthday; the process of coming out to friends, family, and at work, and going through transition to being legally and medically recognized as the woman she is. The book includes medical, psychological, and feminist perspectives on Jennifer’s experiences, to broaden the book’s audience beyond the transgender community.
The Unbound Press couldn’t be more excited to be working with Jennifer on this project! Jennifer’s experience encapsulates so much of what it means to be unbound and we can’t wait to help her share her story.
‘The New Normal: Coming out as transgender in midlife’ will be published in Spring 2019.
