Sarah West signs publishing deal with The Unbound Press

The Unbound Press is delighted to announce that Sarah West has signed with us to publish her forthcoming new book, Blackbird.

About Blackbird, Sarah shares:

‘Blackbird is a story about three sisters who return to their family ranch in the Arizona desert after the death of their mother, only to uncover a buried legacy that takes them across the ocean to France and begins to unravel what they thought they knew about their family. At its heart, it’s about sisters, mothers and daughters, grief and first love, and the stories and silences we inherit from the women who came before us. Rooted deeply in place and threaded with family lore, romance, and a touch of the mystical, it’s for readers who love layered stories about complicated women, archival family secrets, the places that shape us, and what it means to find your way home without losing the person you’ve become.’ 

Of Sarah’s journey so far, she shares:

‘I’m a writer, poet, and artist who grew up on an Arizona horse ranch, spending long days beneath the mesquite trees inventing stories. Writing fiction as Sarah West (my grandmother’s maiden name), I’m drawn to the ways women carry memory, myth, and one another across generations. Blackbird grew from my love of the desert and my desire to explore womanhood, belonging, and how we become ourselves without severing from what made us. 

I’m also the co-author of The Skies Are Full of Us: A True Story of Speaking Up, Burning Down, and the Unbreakable Bonds of Friendship, published with my legal name, Sarah Carter.’
